Co-Founder & Coach
Karen Liptrap has a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a certified Personal Trainer with CanFit Pro. She has been power walking for 14 years and coaching classes for the last 7. Karen has participated in 12 marathons and over 30 half marathons across North America and Europe. Promoting health and fitness through walking, enables Karen to fulfill her ambition of helping others to achieve a level of fitness that improves their quality of life. Nothing brings Karen greater pleasure than hearing at the end of class what an amazing workout someone has had and she is excited to be able to introduce new people to this amazing form of exercise.
Co-Founder & Coach
Gillian Niblett started her power walking career in 2010 and since that time has completed 5 marathons and 17 half marathons. Gillian has been a coach for 4 years and is CanFit Pro certified. Power walking was the key to Gillian’s life change in retirement and she has embraced this style of fitness that she believes works for her mind as well as her body. Gillian is very excited to share her love of power walking and to help others find the joy it has brought her.
Sandra Hager is a certified Personal Trainer with CanFit Pro. She has been a power walking coach for 5 years and an avid walker for 14 years. She believes that walking is an essential element of life and is currently obtaining her Active Aging Certificate. Walking has brought her many opportunities to travel, meet people and stay healthy.
Sonja has been power walking since 2012, accomplishing 15+ half marathons over the years. Now she walks 25+ km per week for a personal cardio workout and spends her weeks instructing yoga. A Canadian Yoga Alliance yoga instructor with RYT-500 hours, she knows intimately the positive impact long distance walking has on our body. Balancing strength with expansion, allowing muscles to slacken after performance and keeping an overall sense of well-being is Sonja’s focus for others.
Shelagh Inman is a retired physiotherapist, a master swimmer, and a power walker of many years. Shelagh’s love for an active lifestyle is apparent in her ability to continually encourage others to go the extra mile and do their best. Shelagh will bring her own brand of energy to her role as substitute Coach.
Cheryl van der Kroon
Cheryl van der Kroon has been power walking for over 12 years and loving it! It’s the most natural form of exercise that everyone can do at their own pace! Cheryl enjoys the incredible energy of the walkers and the fun group dynamics! Come out and join us!
Atul Shah is a retired financial professional. He took up power walking in 2017 and has been a substitute coach since the spring of 2019. Atul loves walking and enjoys the camaraderie of the group, especially socializing after a good workout. He always looks forward to Gillian’s yummy treats (you’ll have to join the group to find out what they are!).
